Police are searching for a man who stole a car with a child inside in Adelaide's northern suburbs this morning.
At about 11am, the car was stolen from outside a Clearview shop, where a mother reportedly saw a male suspect enter her car before she confronted him.
He allegedly pushed her to the ground before driving off with her child in the back seat.
Police were able to track the car using the victim's mobile phone and the vehicle was located about 20 minutes later in Walkley Heights.
The child was found safe inside and has since been reunited with their mother.
Pet shop owner Tim Beaton said he was serving the mother at the time of the incident.
"She got pushed out of the car by someone that was stealing the car," he said.
"We found out there was a child in the back seat.. she was distraught.
"She was watching the car the whole time, you don't expect that to happen.
"We comforted her and called triple-0."
Police urge anyone who may have witnessed suspicious behaviour around Rowe Court at Walkley Heights or saw a Mazda CX9 station wagon to contact Crime Stoppers.
