Stolen car's balancing act in Annan sparks police investigation

Police are investigating the bizarre circumstances around how a stolen car came to end up perched on a drum on an Annan roundabout.

A black Honda Civic was discovered in Scott’s Street near Tesco at around 5.10am on Wednesday balanced on top of the metal cylinder.

Enquiries have established the vehicle was stolen from an address in the town.

Sergeant Brian Dickson, of Annan police station, said: “Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this incident.

“Anyone with any information about this theft or the vehicle being left on the roundabout is urged to contact police.

“We are particularly keen to hear from anyone with dash-cam or CCTV footage which may show the car being transported or abandoned.

“Please contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0279 of May 17 2023.”

Meanwhile fire crews were called out to a blaze involving two cars in Annan at around 9pm on Tuesday night.

The incident happened in Silverlaw during Annan Athletic’s play-off game with Clyde.

“The road was closed for almost an hour while the fire was extinguished. No one was injured.
