'Stolen' car in huge crash on Glasgow roundabout as cop and three men hospitalised

A police officer and three men have been rushed to hospital afterna collision between an allegedly stolen motor and an unmarked police car.

The three men have been arrested after the incident at Canniesburn Toll in the Bearsden area of Glasgow this morning, Saturday, July 1. Police were called to reports of the theft of a vehicle at around 6:35am this morning in Eaglesham.

It was then involved in the crash with the police vehicle a few hours later. It is understood the car may have been driving on the wrong side of the road.

All four were taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Glasgow for treatment to non-life threatening injuries.

An image from the scene shows emergency crews at the scene attending to one of the vehicles, with an ambulance parked nearby. Road surrounding the roundabout have been closed while an investigation takes place.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 6.35am on Saturday, 1 July, 2023, we were called to a report of the theft of a car in Gilmour Street, Eaglesham.

"The car was later involved in a crash with an unmarked police vehicle in the Canniesburn Toll area of Bearsden, Glasgow.

"Three men, aged 32, 29 and 20, and a police officer were taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment to non-life-threatening injuries.

"The three men have been arrested in connection with the incident and enquiries are ongoing.

"The roads surrounding the Canniesburn Toll Roundabout remain closed for enquiries to be carried out."
