Merseyside Police confirmed that they stopped a stolen Audi, that was also driving with false plates, after it tried to escape police by driving the wrong way up the M57. The driver took the "stupid and selfish" decision to drive along the hard shoulder in an attempt to get away from officers.
Police managed to stop the car on the busy motorway, with the car being recovered for CSI and it will then be returned to its rightful owner. Merseyside Police took to social media to share the outcome of the pursuit.
