Stoke City want to complete deadline day transfer for striker linked with Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest's Championship rivals are set to make a loan move for Bordeaux forward Josh Maja.

The former Sunderland forward was linked with Nottingham Forest last summer in a £4m deal but a transfer never materialised.

However, Stoke have now offered the striker a route back to England as the Potters look to push for a play-off place in the Championship.

Michael O'Neill's side are currently seven points off the top six having encountered a rough patch of form which has seen them win once in their last five games.

Forest never revisited a move for Maja having considered a deal for him last term and have since bolstered their striking options with the arrival of Keinan Davis from Aston Villa.

However, it is thought that Forest are on the lookout for another forward before the window closes with Lewis Grabban and Davis the only two authentic strikers on the books.

Earlier today, Forest were linked with Bristol City's Antoine Semenyo.

The 22-year-old has been in stunning form over the last two months since recovering from injury, scoring four goals and producing nine assists in his last nine games.

His latest goal came in a 2-2 draw at Preston North End on Saturday.

The Reds are looking to add a striker to their squad ahead of the transfer deadline after seeing Grabban limp off injured during Sunday’s 2-1 defeat at Cardiff City.

NottinghamshireLive understands Forest have lodged a bid for Semenyo, as first reported by BristolLive.
