Newcastle United under-21s snatched a point against their Stoke City counterparts with a dramatic injury-time equaliser. The Magpies looked to be heading to their fourth defeat in their last five Premier League matches, only for Ben Parkinson to net his second goal in as man matches to earn a 2-2 draw at Clayton Wood after the hosts were reduced to 10 men.
Ben Dawson named four changes to the side on Friday night who came from behind twice to draw with Leeds United in their last competitive outing. Will Brown replaced Max Thompson in goal, with Michael Ndiweni, Remi Savage and Ciaran Thompson also coming into the team.
It only took nine minutes for the young Magpies to break the deadlock, with defender Charlie Wiggett netting his first goal of the season. Stoke were then forced into an early change due to injury, with Luke Redfern replacing George Lewis.

Wiggett remarkably went close to scoring his second of the match, but watched his header landed on the roof of the net. Stoke's shot-stopper Tommy Simkin also had to react quickly to deny Ndiweni from close range.
However, the hosts turned the tie around in a devastating six-minute spell to lead at the break. Dara McGuinness drew the Potters level in the 34th minute, latching on to a pass over the top to drill the ball beyond Brown.
The 18-year-old also played a key role in Stoke's second goal just minutes later, with Brown's save from his strike prompting a goalmouth scramble. In the end, Jacob Holland-Wilkinson poked the ball over the line to ensure the Potters held the lead at half-time.
Parkinson - starting his third straight game for the Magpies U21s after impressing with the under-18s - came close to teeing-up an equaliser for the visitors. The 17-year-old attempted to find Amadou Diallo with a cross from the right, but his delivery just evaded the Newcastle captain.
Dawson's were given a boost in the closing stages after Gabriel Adebambo was dismissed for a second yellow card with 10 minutes remaining. The Magpies made this numerical advantage count, drawing level in the third minute of stoppage time through Parkinson.
