Stirling Highland Games is set to return this summer after a two-year suspension due to the pandemic.
Organisers say that the August 20 event will have some exciting new additions to the schedule.
During its two-year break online virtual programmes, which attracted viewers from around the world, acted as a stop-gap.
Stirling Highland Games president Matt McGrandles said this week: “We had a few ideas back in 2020 that we are excited to include in the schedule this year.
“Tug o’ War is a crowd favourite, and I can’t wait to see this in action on the day, but we will also be looking for a local team to enter and challenge the other two teams we have already lined up.
“We will once again host the Adaptive Heavyweights and I really hope the crowds get behind these amazing Vet athletes from Wounded Highlanders.
“I know from speaking with others that events have been sorely missed in Stirling over these last couple of years, so I am delighted that we will be bringing the city’s Highland Games back.”
The organisers Ceangail CIC are looking for sponsorship to help stage this year’s August 20 event at Stirling Sports Village between 10.30am and 5pm.
Matt added: “The committee is really looking forward to creating an amazing event experience for visitors this summer with our volunteers eager to get back involved.
“We have also had some fantastic interest from traders around Scotland looking to play their part, so let’s just hope it can be topped off with some sunshine.”
As well as the traditional Highland Games competitions, stalls featuring arts and crafts will be part of the event as well as award-winning food and drink.
More announcements are to come over the next few months including the naming of the 2022 Games Chieftain.
