Stirling Albion manager Darren Young cut a frustrated figure after his side were beaten 1-0 by Albion Rovers at Forthbank on Tuesday evening.
Central defender Sean Fagan scored the only goal with two minutes left after red cards for Stirling striker Dylan Mackin just before half-time and Rovers forward Kyle Doherty in the 80th minute.
Mackin, who is the leading scorer with eight goals in all competitions, will now miss the home game against Stranraer and Albion’s attacking options are limited with Dale Carrick also out injured.
The Blues have been in good form of late and won 2-1 at Edinburgh City last Friday to keep their slim play-off hopes alive.
Stirling won 3-0 at Stair Park in August and the sides have drawn twice since then –1-1 at Forthbank in October and 3-3 in the south west in January.
Young felt his side deserved something from the Rovers game but knows they need to start scoring more goals if they are to finish the season on a more positive note.
The Binos boss said: “I felt we were the better team with 11 men and the better team with 10 men and the boys worked so hard but we lost a terrible goal again. I’ve no complaints about the red card and Dylan doesn’t need to dive in.
“He had a few fouls against him before that and let frustration get the better of him which is disappointing.
“We got into good areas in the game but we didn’t test the goalkeeper enough.
“It’s frustrating to lose a goal after playing the way we did with 10 men.
“We just don’t have that final piece of the jigsaw to put the ball in the net and now Dylan will be out for two games.
“I thought Adam Cummins came in and was outstanding at the back and Kyle Banner was the same in central midfield.
“Kieran Moore worked so hard for the team and had to play in a number of positions. The effort from the players is there and the fans could see that but we are lacking in the final third.
“We need to do better and take the chances that come our way because that is what other teams are doing to us.
“We also have to do better from set-pieces, both with the delivery and with players getting on the end of them.
“We need to find a way to win games between now and the end of the season.”
