Will Jameson Williams play against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday?
The Lions’ first-round wideout has been active in practice all week as he efforts to get activated from the non-football injury list. Williams is coming back from surgery in January to repair a torn ACL suffered in his final game at Alabama.
Earlier in the week, head coach Dan Campbell labeled Williams’ chances to play in Week 13 as “a tall order”.
Coach Campbell left the door open. Maybe.
“I haven’t made a decision on that,” Campbell told reporters before Friday’s practice when asked if Williams would play.
Campbell had elaborated on where Williams is at in his first week of full-speed practices.
“Every day it’s been better,” Campbell said of Williams’ progress. “First day we gave him some indy (individual drills), a little one-on-one work. And then yesterday he worked him in the scout team reps, and he got a pretty good load. And so I know he looked better yesterday than he looked the day before. Now I anticipate him looking a little better today.”
The coach indicated that Williams is “getting his legs under him”, and also said that was true of DE Romeo Okwara. Beyond that, Campbell did not tip his hand in any direction.
Williams can be activated as late as Saturday. The Lions typically announce their final roster moves of the week each Saturday around 4 p.m., so stay tuned.
