Still Game star set for intimate Ayrshire show for unique look into his life

A popular Scots TV star is coming to Ayrshire for an intimate show.

Paul Riley, who most will know as Winston Ingram from Still Game, brings his ‘Auld Before My Time’ tour to the Palace Theatre in Kilmarnock next weekend.

The show is on Sunday, April 2 and he will have Jane McCarry (Isa Drennan from Still Game) along with him for a unique look into his life.

Speaking exclusively to the Kilmarnock Standard he said: “I’m doing shows all over the country, it’s essentially a one-man show, and I’ll be doing meet-and-greets too.

“The first half will be me getting interviewed, and then in the second half it’s opened up to the audience and they can ask whatever they like about my life and career.

“Sometimes I take the guitar out and play a wee song, it’s always a good laugh.

“It’s about variety, it’s about having a good night out which is what everyone needs after the last few years.”

Paul admits he hasn’t been in the town for 19 years – April 2004 to be precise, but that was for leisure.

He said: “The last time I was in Kilmarnock was when Celtic won the league, Stan Petrov scored the winner.

“I was down for the game, that was years ago – I had a great day but I’m sure it has all changed.

“I don’t know the town that well other than travelling through it, but it’s something different.

“We did the Hydro a wee while ago and the research showed that the majority of the audience were from Glasgow, so I thought ‘why don’t I go to them?’

“That’s why I am doing this tour, it’s good for fans of the shows and as far as I am aware people love it, people just want a good laugh post-Covid.

“It just shows how much of an impact the likes of Chewin’ The Fat and Still Game had, people love anything to do with it.

“I remember we (the cast) did a Still Game pub quiz once and we came 16th out of 24 teams, it’s mental how much folk love it!”

Tickets are still available for the show and can be purchased here.
