Stewartry Young Farmers have narrowly missed out on being named Dumfries and Galloway Young Farmers District Club of the Year.
A three-strong team comprising chairman John McCulloch, secretary Meghan Carson and assistant treasurer and junior member Milly Smith came second in a region-wide competition held at Crocketford last week,
The trio took it in turns to deliver a PowerPoint presentation in the Galloway Arms to a panel of judges made up of four former young farmers.
John told the News afterwards: “We did a presentation of what we did throughout the year to attract new members, retain existing members and to hold events.
“We are delighted to have won second prize – it’s absolutely fantastic.
“In the past year we have been rebuilding as restrictions through the pandemic have eased.
“It’s good to be getting more events in the diary.”
Lower Nithsdale were rated top of the crops by the judges.
