Stewartry under-16s defeat Loch Lomond to progress to Plate final

Stewartry’s Under-16s will face Marr College in the Plate final on Sunday after seeing off Loch Lomond last weekend.

Both sides were up for the semi-final at a sunny Greenlaw with the visitors getting the better of the early exchanges. However, the boys in black and red held them off with some good clearing kicks.

Stewartry started to make headway midway through the first half with a converted try but Loch Lomond responded with a try of their own.

In the second half, Stewartry had the wind at their backs and made the most of it. A further two tries and conversions left the visitors wanting but credit to Loch Lomond who scored their second try in the dying minutes.

It was a great day of rugby for both teams with Stewartry now looking forward to Sunday’s final. Kick-off is TBC and everyone is encouraged to go along to cheer the boys on.
