Steven Hammell brushes off Rangers vulnerability claim as Motherwell boss insists focus on in house preparations

It is back to domestic action for Gio van Bronckhorst 's Rangers side this Sunday with a trip to Fir Park pending.

And some might assume this weekend's meeting provides Motherwell with a great chance to pounce on a wounded Ibrox side after a mauling against Liverpool in the Champions League midweek. It was a dark night in Govan on Wednesday as Jurgen Klopp's side ran out 7-1 victors, netting six times in the second half to make sure Rangers ' pointless run in the European competition continued.

But the men in light blue don't have much time to dwell on their defeat as they look to continue their battle for top spot in the Premiership. And Motherwell boss Steven Hammell is not taking any chances when it comes to relying on his opponents upset. Instead, the Fir Park gaffer insists his side must simply look after themselves and be at their best if they want to keep the points in North Lanarkshire this weekend.

When asked whether Rangers' tough to take result midweek makes them vulnerable and effects their approach going into Sunday's clash at Fir Park, the Motherwell boss said: "That's something you'd probably need to ask them.

"It's not a result they're used to being on the end of. We can't control how they react to that but what we can do is be as prepared as we possibly can be, which we've done already this week.

"We've put a lot of good work in, we've still got a little bit of time to get fine tuned before the game. We'll be as ready and prepared as we can be for it."
