Steven Gerrard suffers double transfer strife in Saudi as Rangers boss Michael Beale's 'how much' quip rings loud

Struggling Steven Gerrard is set to suffer a double transfer blow at Al-Ettifaq with a pair of top targets edging away from joining him in Saudi.

The former Rangers and Aston Villa boss wants his Liverpool captain successor Jordan Henderson to link-up in the Middle East, however, the England international is reportedly reluctant to leave Anfield – according to the Daily Mail. And that blow comes fresh off the news Wilfried Zaha is unlikely to join Gerrard, with the same outlet stated the Crystal Palace free agent was seeking an extra £7.5million to consider a possible move.

And the money involved to head to Saudi appears to be a pertinent question for Al-Ettifaq with Gerrard's former assistant Michael Beale playfully stating financial packages would be pivotal if he moved for any of his former stars in Glasgow with Scott Wright . The current Rangers boss said: “I wished (Gerrard) well, It’s an exciting journey for him. I am delighted to see him and some of the staff I previously worked with back together and working.

"(As for coming in for our players) it depends how much he comes with.” Gerrard has also been linked with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang with the former Liverpool superstar hell-bent on sprinkling stardust on a side which finished way behind the title contender in last season's Saudi Pro League.
