Steven Gerrard reputation in the TOILET as pundit fears former Rangers boss doesn't believe in himself

Former Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has been warned his managerial reputation is in the toilet as he gets set for his comeback in the Middle East.

Outspoken former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan reckons it is an impossibility for the former Aston Villa manager to rebuild his reputation as a rising coach whatever the outcome in Saudi Arabia. Gerrard has performed a U-turn and is now poised for a move to Ettifaq. But Jordan reckons Gerrard is giving out signals he lacks self belief over his ability in the wake of his Villa Park disaster. Gerrard secured Premiership glory with Rangers but is aiming to change the narrative after nine months away from the dugout.

Speaking on talkSPORT, he said: "If Gerrard wants to do that then he doesn't believe he has got the the chops to be a top class manager. He believes the importance of the renumeration he is going to get in Saudi, in this instance, is greater than, perhaps, looking around and taking an opportunity somewhere more meaningful in football terms not financial terms. That's easy for me to say because I am not the one being offered a King's ransom to manage in these leagues."

He added: "Gerrard needs to rebuild. His reputation is in the toilet as a top class manager. He made a Horlicks of the Aston Villa job. I said he would and he did. And Unai Emery has made what Gerrard did look comparatively simple by producing a group of players, who are ostensibly the same, into a quite formidable side. With than in mind, in Premier League terms, there is not a job for Steven Gerrard right now."
