Steven Gerrard orders £50 worth of prawns during plush curry house visit

The owners of a plush Indian restaurant have revealed what Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard 's go-to order is.

The Aston Villa boss was photographed at the upmarket Asha's restaurant in Birmingham city centre on Monday evening, where stars like Tom Cruise and Ed Sheeran have previously stopped off for a bite, according to Birmingham Live.

And the excited eatery owners lifted the lid on the signature dish that the 41-year-old treated himself to two helpings of.

Early on Tuesday morning, their Twitter account posted a picture of a blurred Gerrard outside the restaurant, encouraging followers to guess who had stopped by.

And when showing off the original picture an hour later, they said: "If you guessed Steven Gerrard, you were correct!

"It was an absolute pleasure to welcome such a sporting legend to our award-winning restaurants!

"If you're wondering which of our dishes Steven recommends, he enjoyed our Prawn Shan E Nisha so much that he ordered it twice!"

The dish comprises king prawns marinated in yoghurt, cheese and a touch of cardamom - and is priced at £24.75 a portion.

Tom Cruise also doubled up when visiting the restaurant, tucking in to two helpings of chicken tikka.

And while Ed Sheeran claimed that Asha's was his "favourite of all" Indians, he remained tight-lipped on what his order was.

The restaurant has their own hall of fame of celebs who have visited their restaurants online.

Boxer Deontay Wilder, broadcaster Jon Snow, musicians Cliff Richard and Ronnie Wood, and football heroes Harry Redknapp and Peter Shilton have all stopped by.

Asha's general manager Nouman Farooqui says that, while it's a boost for staff to see celebrities come through the door to sample the restaurant's food, status doesn't impact the level of service.

He said: "Indian cuisine is so popular and everyone wants a nice curry in a relaxing restaurant.

"We offer that and we've established ourselves over the last 15 years.

"For us, every guest who dines is treated like a celebrity.

"Everyone gets the same level of service, whether they're an A-lister or not!"
