Divock Origi's second goal against Barcelona in the 2019 Champions League semi-finals has been surprisingly crowned the greatest goal in Liverpool 's history.
The Reds celebrate the 130th anniversary of their formation this year and have been counting down the 130 greatest strikes to celebrate. The Premier League giants have now revealed the top 10, which was voted for by supporters.
Iconic Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard had two entries in the top 10, but neither could beat out Origi's strike against Barca. His win is perhaps surprising given it is one of the few in the top 10 to not have been scored in the final of a major trophy, unlike both of Gerrard's.
In at number 10 was Ian St John's header in the 1965 FA Cup final against Leeds United, which was just behind Alan Kennedy's solo effort against Real Madrid in the 1981 European Cup final. Ian Rush's half-volley against Everton in the FA Cup final five years later came in at number eight.
The first of two Kenny Dalglish goals was voted seventh, with his brilliant volley against Chelsea in a First Division clash in 1986 taking that honour. That was beaten by David Fairclough's goal against St Etienne in the 1977 European Cup quarter-finals.
The second Dalglish goal was the first in the top five, with that strike being against Club Brugge in the 1978 European Cup final. Terry McDermott's thumping header against Tottenham in a First Division game the same year was voted number four.

Then came the two Gerrard goals, the first of which was his header against AC Milan in the 2005 Champions League final. His second goal in the top five was his stunning strike from more than 40 yards out against West Ham in the 2006 FA Cup final.
But both of those iconic goals were beaten by Origi's strike against Barcelona in 2019. Trent Alexander-Arnold delivered a quick corner to the striker, who turned the ball home to complete a comeback against Barca and send Liverpool to the Champions League final.
Upon their announcement, the results were slammed by many fans, who did not believe that Origi's goal deserved its spot at the top. Some also expressed surprise that another of Gerrard's goals, his stunning strike against Olympiakos in 2005 was not included.
"Oh Dear!!!! Really!!! Maybe if you were born in the last 30 yrs. Believe me this is NOT the greatest goal ever scored by LFC!" one fan fumed. Anither added: "I still have Stevie G's goal v Olympiacos at the top of my list, cos without it we wouldn't have got no.5 & witnessed the greatest European final of all-time."
A third fan said: "One of the most important goals? Maybe. One of the most iconic goals of recent times? Maybe. One of the best goals? NOWHERE NEAR. Not even in the top 100 scored at Anfield."
Another added: "Some famous/nostalgic goals in that top10, but I could think of at least 50 that were better. So many absolute beauties by Suarez, Salah, fowler, Torres, Coutinho, riise, Souness, Barnes." While a fifth supporter concluded: "I can’t believe Gerrard’s goal against Olympiakos is not in the top five!"
