Steven Gerrard insider talks on next managerial move revealed amid speculation

Charlie Adam has offered an insight into Steven Gerrard's next managerial move with speculation linking him with the Al-Ettifaq job in Saudi.

The former Rangers manager has been heavily tipped to become the new manager at the Saudi club.

Reuters claim Al-Ettifaq have made an offer to Gerrard and are awaiting a response from the England and Liverpool legend.

A source told the news outlet: "Al-Ettifaq made an offer to Gerrard.

"He welcomed the idea, but asked for time to study the offer."

Gerrard was then pictured in an airport reportedly in Saudi Arabia to finalise his move to Al-Ettifaq, however nothing has been confirmed.

Ex-Rangers and Liverpool midfielder Adam appeared on talkSPORT this morning and he was quizzed on Gerrard's next move.

He responded: "I think speaking to Steven not so long ago when I played in the charity match with him, the next project was important for him. It didn't have to be in England, it was about the project; 'what can I build, what can I try and do?'.

"It's difficult, he's been to Scotland and did well with Rangers. It didn't end the way he would like at Aston Villa and this is a big opportunity. Listen, this is not a money move for Steven. This is an opportunity to rebuild something.

"Yeah, he'll be financially rewarded, we all know the numbers that are getting branded around about Saudi Arabia, but it's something that he wants to try. You see a lot of coaches and players going there in the next few years, and I just hope it doesn't end up like China.

"That's my big worry, if it ends up like China and then in a couple of years, everything falls away. If he thinks it's right and it's the right project for him, then why not?"

Reports have suggested that Gerrard could make moves for former Liverpool players Phillipe Coutinho and Sadio Mane if he was to land the job.

Gerrard signed former team-mate Coutinho for Aston Villa during his time in charge at the Premier League club.

And it's thought he'd look to reunite with the creative midfielder again should he be confirmed at Al-Ettifaq manager.
