Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard has inadvertently told Chelsea how to complete Thomas Tuchel's dream midfield.
During a quick-fire interview with Rio Ferdinand, the Liverpool legend explained that he's a fan of Chelsea midfielders Mason Mount and Mateo Kovacic: "Love Jude Bellingham, absolutely loving him," he said. "Kevin De Bruyne, without a shadow of a doubt. I’m going for attacking players. Love Mason Mount what he’s doing. Kovacic at Chelsea. I love Fabinho at Liverpool and I love Rodri."
Interestingly though, he mentioned Borussia Dortmund star and England international Bellingham, who has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge for some time. The 18-year-old has shone since making the move to Germany in 2020 for roughly £22million.

As Mount and Kovacic are two of the best midfielders in world football at the moment, at least according to Gerrard that is, adding Bellingham could help Tuchel secure a more rounded midfield moving forward - especially as N'Golo Kante is ageing and his long-term future in west London is uncertain with just a year remaining on his deal.
With the takeover of the club set to be complete in the coming weeks following the announcement from the club that an agreement is in place for Todd Boehly's consortium to assert control, Chelsea will finally be able to buy players again. Bellingham is someone who's likely to be on their radar as they look to strengthen their options in the middle of the park.
The Blues may have their work cut out for them, however. That's because as per Sky Sports reporter Florian Plettenberg, Dortmund won't be allowing Bellingham to leave this summer following Erling Haaland's exit. Whether that means Chelsea will have to wait to sign him remains to be seen, but testing the waters with a bid may be worthwhile.
