Jacob Ramsey showed once again on Wednesday evening just why he is one of England's most exciting young talents.
The 20-year-old midfielder has been in exceptional form this season and scored his fourth and fifth goals of the Premier League season in Villa's 3-3 draw with Leeds United.
Ramsey, who is valued at £13.5million on Transfermarkt, is tied down to a long-term contract at Villa Park that is due to run until the summer of 2025.
Despite his lengthy contract in the Midlands, it is inevitable that Ramsey is already being linked with a move away from the club where he came through the academy system.
Now, an old tweet of Ramsey's has emerged relating to Arsenal, where he simply put: "Arsenal" followed by two flame emojis, from way back in 2017 - but it has got some Gunners supporters very excited.
@MackayoSaka said: "Enduring our 17-18 football? This guy is a super fan. Sign him up."
@Samsnr20 said: "If you go to Arsenal brother I'm your number one fan."
@markwhite said: "Wengerball aficionado. Needed at the carpet."
It's no secret that Mikel Arteta is desperate to add a top-class central midfielder to his squad, with the north London club trying to sign Arthur Melo on loan last month, but failed to agree a deal with Juventus.
It is expected that Arsenal will go back into the transfer market in the summer and look to bring in a new midfielder - and Ramsey could be the perfect option for the Gunners.
Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard has been very impressed with what he has seen from the young English midfielder. Gerrard went as far as saying that it will not be long before the whole country is watching him closely.
Speaking to BT Sport following Villa's draw with Leeds, the former Liverpool captain said: "I know the level of the England players, I have been around it, and have enough experience to know it is only a matter of time but let's all be sensible and keep calm about it.
"I want him to make his own headlines with his football. He is a top talent, I am loving every moment of working with him. He is getting stronger with each game because we're giving him the platform to express himself. He is in a wonderful place."
When asked if Ramsey is following in his footsteps, Gerrard intervened: "He is not following in anyone's footsteps. Jacob Ramsey is Jacob Ramsey. He will be a terrific player.
"It won't be long before the whole country is watching him I am sure. He is right up there, let me tell you."
