Steve Morison believes he has done enough to earn a long-term deal as Cardiff City manager after producing an upsurge in results, improved performances and what people at the club have called "the best transfer window they've ever seen".
Morison was appointed on a deal until the end of the season, with an immediate remit of getting the club further up the table after a woeful start to the campaign under Mick McCarthy.
While results have peaked and troughed since Morison took charge, there is no doubting that Cardiff are currently on an upwards curve as they head into this weekend's clash with Millwall in search of their fourth successive league win.
The Bluebirds have opened a gap of 12 points to the relegation zone and, to the credit of the manager and the players, have played far better football while doing so.
That is in no small part down to the excellent work undertaken in the January transfer window. Loanees Jordan Hugill, Uche Ikpeazu, Tommy Doyle and Cody Drameh have all made instant impacts, while Alfie Doughty looked promising before his unfortunate injury at Barnsley.
With all that in the melting pot, Morison believes he has executed everything he was asked to do at the start of his tenure and hopes it leads to a more permanent contract with the club.
When asked if he had done enough to get the gig on a longer-term basis, Morison said: "Yeah. I don’t see why not.
"My first transfer window and I’ve been told it’s the best transfer window they’ve ever seen. I think I’ve proved myself there.
"All I’ve done is do exactly what I told the board I would do within that window. There’s no lies or hidden agenda for me.
"I said I’d make changes to the way we play football on the grass - there will be ups and downs and inconsistencies while we get better - but I like to think I’ve done that as well.
"The first remit was to get ourselves in a much healthier position in the table. When I took over we were on 11 points and third bottom, so we’ve definitely improved that.
"The may not have moved up many places, but the numbers are definitely better, averaging 1.4 per game. We continue that and we’ll be in a nice position come the end of the season.
"But we've got some tough games coming up as well so we need to keep improving."

Given the threat of relegation was becoming a real one just a few weeks ago, it has been quite the fortnight or so for the Bluebirds.
Impressive wins over Nottingham Forest, Barnsley and Peterborough, plus a valiant effort against Liverpool up at Anfield in the FA Cup, has restored some heart in the club in this otherwise miserable season.
The nature of that thumping 4-0 win over Posh served to give supporters a real shot in the arm and hope of better things to come.
However, Morison added that there has been no talk of lengthening his contract just yet.
"It's not been discussed at all," he said.
"It’s not my decision, ultimately. I can only do my talking on the pitch.
"And, away from the pitch, my work within the football club. If the work I’ve done isn’t good enough then that’s fine. That’s their decision.
"I’m in regular contact with them over a whole manner of things, but it’s not something I've brought up and it's not something they've brought up.
"I just need to keep getting results for this football club and get the lads to keep producing performances like the other night and Nottingham Forest, for example, to get this club to safety and then hopefully the rest will take care of itself."
He will hope that continues this weekend when he visits his old stomping ground, The Den, to take on a club where he has secured legendary status.
Cardiff face Millwall at 3pm on Saturday.
