The Golden State Warriors dropped another home game on Saturday as the San Antonio Spurs secured a 126-113 victory. The Warriors were missing Steph Curry due to an ankle injury, yet their defensive effort left Steve Kerr frustrated on the sidelines.
When speaking to the media following the game, Kerr discussed his desire to see Golden State string some stops against a team with one of the league’s worst records He stated the Spurs got whatever they wanted on the offensive end.
“I liked the way the game started,” Kerr said. “I thought our defense looked really good. That’s why we started the way we did with that lineup. I wanted to have Draymond and Trayce out there together. … As the game went on, we had multiple breakdowns. They got to the rim at will. … You’ve got to stop something, and I thought they got whatever they wanted all night. Tough night for us defensively.”
The Warriors are 2-3 to begin the month of March. They’ve suffered two tough losses in their last four games. The first was against the Boston Celtics on March 3, and the second was the loss to the Spurs. Golden State needs to fix its defensive continuity if it wants to avoid the play-in tournament.

Following their loss to the Spurs, the Warriors are 10th in the Western Conference, four-and-a-half games behind the Sacramento Kings, who occupy sixth. As such, Kerr’s team faces an uphill battle to climb out of the play-in tournament spots if they want to guarantee a postseason appearance this season.
