Steve Kean admits he was disappointed not to take all three points in the Reserve League as he hailed Hibs' second half performance as 'excellent'.
The Easter Road side played out a 2-2 draw with Dundee United with the Development Squad impressing the academy chief. The home side dominated the majority of the ball but struggled to find that final pass and had to settle for a share of the spoils in a four goal thriller.
A number of the first team group, who have struggled for minutes in Lee Johnson's side, got some game-time under their belts with Kean hailing the run out as good exercise and the chance to get that competitive edge that you don't pick up on a training day. Speaking to the Hibs official website, he said: “I thought we were excellent in the second half. First half, we were a bit slow in moving the ball and a bit slow in getting up to the opposition and putting them under pressure.

“We had a chat at half-time and asked them to find more rhythm in the game, move the ball a little quicker, to be more aggressive and in all honesty, I thought there was only one team in the second half that looked like they were going to win the game and it was us. We’re a little bit disappointed that we didn’t win, but an excellent second half performance.
He continued: “You’ve got two groups if you like, you have the First Team lads that are needing minutes, and some of the younger lads that haven’t actually had that many minutes who played the full pre-season but haven’t played together as much.
“Overall, it’s a good exercise for the first team players that played, it gets them that competitive edge that I don’t think a training day can replicate and for the younger lads it gets them up to speed leading into the European competition next week.”
