Forest boss Cooper says 'a lot more' signings still needed
Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper admits “a lot more” signings are still needed as he puts together a squad ready for the Premier League.
Taiwo Awoniyi, Dean Henderson, Giulian Biancone and Moussa Niakhate have been added to the Reds’ ranks so far. And Neco Williams and Omar Richards are believed to be close to joining.
With Forest having lost loanees Djed Spence, James Garner, Philip Zinckernagel, Keinan Davis and Max Lowe at the end of last season, Cooper says significant changes were always inevitable. However, he is keen to ensure the team spirit which was such a key part of promotion success remains.

Reid sent heartfelt message after Forest departure
Notingham Forest fans have sent Steven Reid a message following his departure from the City Ground.
Reid first joined the club in 2020 as one of Chris Hughton's assistant coaches, before stepping up as a caretaker manager until Steve Cooper took over. He will now become a specialist coach in helping individuals with their mental well-being.
The 41-year-old who has certainly left his mark at the City Ground, guided Forest to their first Championship win in the 2021/22 season against Huddersfield. And later contributed to the Reds' promotion to the Premier League.
Forest told to complete 'unreal' £17.5m Cornet transfer
Nottingham Forest fans have reacted to the club's reported approach for Burnley ace Maxwel Cornet, which is said to have been rejected.
Steve Cooper is keen to continue chasing signings ahead of Forest's return to the Premier League. Most recently, the Reds have announced Moussa Niakhate, who became the fourth signing of the summer, but they are far from finished with their business.
However, the Reds would reportedly face competition from a number of clubs for Cornet, including Chelsea. It is understood the Clarets are willing to let their player go if his release clause of £17.5million is met - having already had conversations with clubs.
Mainz chief explains Niakhate Nottingham Forest transfer decision
Bundesliga side Mainz didn’t want to deny new Nottingham Forest man Moussa Niakhate his dream of playing in the Premier League, something that played a part in the club sanctioning the transfer.
Niakhate completed a transfer to the City Ground this week, signing a three-year contract. The deal will reportedly see Forest pay a fee of €10 million plus an extra €5 million in potential add-ons.
The central defender had been with Mainz since joining from Metz in 2018. In his four years with the club he made a total of 135 appearances, but was ready for a new challenge in England.
Forest 'rebuffed' in approach for Cornet
Nottingham Forest are said to have had an approach for Burnley ace Maxwel Cornet rejected - but another fresh transfer link has also emerged.
Moussa Niakhate became the Reds’ fourth addition of the summer when he made the move from Mainz earlier this week. The defender followed Taiwo Awoniyi, Dean Henderson and Giulian Biancone in linking up with Steve Cooper’s squad.
But Forest are far from finished with their business just yet. Neco Williams and Omar Richards look set to become the next arrivals, with still more to follow as owner Evangelos Marinakis bankrolls a significant spending spree.
