Steve Cooper’s Nottingham Forest transfer list as Reds linked with surprise Newcastle deal

Here’s the latest Nottingham Forest transfer news and rumours ahead of the final game of the Championship season.

Newcastle man could make surprise return

Former Nottingham Forest defender Jamaal Lascelles could reportedly make a return to the City Ground this summer having fallen out of favour at St James’ Park.

The defender has made 24 appearances this season, but has fallen behind January signing Dan Burns in the pecking order under Eddie Howe.

That has led to reports that the 28-year-old could search for a move away this summer according to transfer insider Dean Jones, with a return to Forest tipped as a possible outcome.

Lyle Taylor claim

Forest striker Lyle Taylor is ‘unlikely’ to return to Birmingham at the end of his loan deal with the club, according to reports.

The forward has had a successful time at St Andrew’s since moving on a temporary deal in January. He has scored five times in 13 starts for the Blues and quickly established himself as first-choice striker.

However, according to The Athletic , Taylor is unlikely to have his move from the City Ground turned permanent with the claim that the former Charlton striker's wages are "out of reach".

Steve Cooper’s transfer to-do list

Whatever happens between now and the end of the month, though, head coach Steve Cooper has set the club on an upward curve. And whether it be in the top-flight or mounting another push in the Championship, he will be looking for further improvement next season.

There are a number of areas which will need addressing in the summer, not least what will happen with the players the Reds currently have on loan.

Djed Spence, Max Lowe, James Garner, Philip Zinckernagel and Keinan Davis have all been integral to the club’s charge up the table. Trying to get some - or even all - of those five back would form the basis of a strong squad. They will need replacing, if not.
