Nottingham Forest will make a late call on whether Lewis O’Brien is fit to face Arsenal on Sunday.
The midfielder has missed the Reds’ last three games due to illness, but was in the stands at the City Ground last weekend to watch his teammates topple Liverpool. And he has returned to training this week, ahead of the trip to the Emirates Stadium.
Head coach Steve Cooper had spoken about how the illness had “really knocked” O’Brien back. He has made progress, though, and Forest will give the summer signing every chance to get the green light to face the Gunners.

Cooper is still without long-term absentees Moussa Niakhate (hamstring), Omar Richards (hairline fracture of the leg) and Harry Toffolo (hamstring), while Jack Colback has recently been struggling with a back problem. But full-back Renan Lodi made his comeback from an ankle sprain as a substitute in the 1-0 win over Jurgen Klopp’s side.
“We haven’t picked up any new injuries from the last game or this week’s training. The boys who are out a little while are still going through the process, but no new news,” Cooper said.
“Lewis and Renan are back training. Lewis has only come back in the past few days.
“Renan just about made the bench against Liverpool and came on, so that was a plus. It has been good for him to get a normal week's training, because he’s needed that. We will see where they are at for the weekend.”
Forest go into the game against the table-toppers having ended a nine-match winless run in the Premier League by seeing off Liverpool. They remain bottom of the standings, having picked up nine points from 12 matches.
