Nottingham Forest head coach Steve Cooper is "delighted" to have beaten other Premier League clubs to the signing of Union Berlin striker Taiwo Awoniyi.
The 24-year-old has arrived at the City Ground on a five-year deal and is head coach Steve Cooper's first signing of the summer. The former Liverpool forward has spoken of his delight after signing, and Cooper has echoed that sentiment.
Cooper has also confirmed there was interest from other Premier League clubs in Awoniyi, though Forest secured their man and others are likely to follow in the coming weeks. He brings an exciting record with him after 20 goals in 43 appearances last season.

“There’s been a lot of interest of Taiwo from other Premier League clubs, and others club across Europe, so we’re delighted that he’s chosen Nottingham Forest," Cooper said.
“Our recruitment and coaching teams have been monitoring his progress closely over the last few months. He’s a player who we really believe in and we look forward to him going on to fulfil his potential and become a top Premier League striker with Nottingham Forest.”
Forest could soon make their second signing of the summer, with goalkeeper Dean Henderson expected to arrive on loan from Manchester United with an option to buy. Full-backs Issa Kabore of Man City and Neco Williams of Liverpool have also been heavily linked.
