Steve Cooper explains Nottingham Forest have 'plan' to beat Manchester United

Nottingham Forest head coach Steve Cooper has revealed there is a plan in place to pick up points from Manchester United's visit to the City Ground on Sunday.

After previously playing and losing three times to United this season, Cooper is calling for positivity from his players to give themselves a chance versus Erik ten Hag's team.

Forest are winless in nine matches stretching back to the start of February, but both sides come into the season's fourth fixture against each other off the back of disappointment last time out. Despite United losing two late goals and both first-choice central defenders to injury against Sevilla, the Forest boss is unfazed by the prospect of facing depleted opposition.

"It's a squad full of incredible players," Cooper said at Friday's press conference. "Whatever team you play against, you know you’re coming up against a really difficult opponent.

"With that in mind, we’ve got to back ourselves, believe in the plan we’ve put in place and give everything we can. We need to go in with a real positive mindset and concentration.

"We’re at home, it's on a Sunday afternoon, it'll be a game that the whole world watches and not only do we want to give everything to put on a good performance but give even more to get the right result." Much like United, Forest fair far better at home than away from it, with Cooper's team taking points off of Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City in the East Midlands this season.
