Nottingham Forest head coach Steve Cooper admits outgoings, as well as incomings, are possible at the City Ground before the transfer window closes.
Midfielder Jonjo Shelvey is undergoing a medical ahead of completing a move from Newcastle United which will make him the Reds’ fourth January addition. And he is unlikely to be the only new arrival before Tuesday night’s 11pm deadline.
Forest were already at the limit of their 25-man Premier League squad prior to the window opening, so bringing in further signings will require others to make way. Former Huddersfield Town duo Lewis O’Brien and Harry Toffolo could be in line to head elsewhere.

Both have struggled to pin down a regular starting spot since joining in the summer. Left-back Toffolo looks set to join Anderlecht, while O’Brien is wanted by West Bromwich Albion and Sheffield United.
“There’s definitely been interest in some players. But whether players leave will be down to whether it’s right on our terms,” Cooper said.
“We never want to make life difficult for any player. But at the same time, we have to always do what’s right for the club.
“The two guys you mentioned (Toffolo and O’Brien) are fantastic lads and fantastic professionals. We like having them with us.
“They have contributed well this season. If that continues with them, then great.
“There’s nothing really to add to that. A lot can happen between now and tomorrow night, but if not, then we’ll carry on working away.”
He added: “There are players who could leave. It’s all what-ifs at the moment.
“If someone comes in, then it might be an opportunity for somebody to leave. I’m not saying it’s the case, but some players might be thinking they might want to leave, but they can’t because they’re needed here.
“We have every scenario, in terms of ins and outs. What it will look like when the window closes, I can’t quite tell you. It could be nothing from now or it could be quite a lot. Let’s wait and see.”
