Steve Clarke takes Scotland fans in the dressing room as our heroes have one demand set after win for the ages

Steve Clarke admitted his biggest concern was SUNBURN as Scotland beat the heat in Oslo with an ice cold finish to a game that must have stung for Norway.

As temperature topped 30 degrees in the Norwegian capital, the hosts looked to be pouring cold water on Scotland’s high hopes of qualifying for Euro 2024. Erling Haaland’s penalty looked like getting his team back in the hunt for the top two spots in the group, only for Lyndon Dykes and Kenny McLean to fire two goals in two minutes as Norway’s defence melted.

The points leave Scotland six points clear at the summit and it would be a disaster if our qualification chances went up in smoke from such a strong position. But Clarke is staying cool with Georgia in town on Tuesday, knowing they're a team that’s burned Scotland before. "I was worried about sunburn!” He joked when asked by Viaplay Sports how he coped on the sweltering touchline in his Scotland trackie top.

“It’s better to leave the top on rather than try and slather yourself in suncream. Obviously I had factor 50 on the napper!

“Credit to both set of players, I thought they put on a good show. It was a good game and nice to get the three points.

“We’re obviously disappointed to lose the penalty. Ryan (Porteous) tells me it’s soft but I genuinely haven’t watched it back, I’ve only watched our goals. You’ll probably tell me it was a penalty. We recovered well and changed the shape a little bit. We got ourselves forward and managed to nick the three points with two late goals.

“We spoke before the game about not wasting the six points we’ve got. If we want to capitalise on them, we need to come to the June games and get more points, so that’s three.

“I’ve told the players to rest, recover and get yourselves ready to go again on Tuesday.”
