Steve Clarke's son brutally trolls Rangers after Scottish Cup exit

Steve Clarke's son brutally trolled Rangers in the wake of their embarrassing Scottish Cup exit at the hands of Queen's Park.

John Clarke took to social media site X to share a famous meme regularly circulated within Scottish football of his dad as he bid an emotional farewell to Kilmarnock in 2019.

A still photo of the Scotland head coach waving in the direction of the away stand at Rugby Park can be seen, with the simple caption: "Bye bye Rangers."

Philippe Clement's side were knocked out as the Championship minnows ran out 1-0 winners at Ibrox.

The result leaves the Belgian clinging onto his job after a dismal season domestically, which will almost certainly end without silverware.

Clarke's son clearly saw the funny side of the underdog story that emerged from Glasgow on Sunday evening.

The 'bye bye Rangers' meme originates from his dad when delivering his speech to Killie fans after his last game in charge of the club before taking on the national team job.

After defeating Rangers 2-1 to secure a historic third-place finish at the end of the 2018/19 season, Clarke took the mic to thank a packed-out Rugby Park.

He said: "But I'm telling you now as I stand here in front of three stands with Kilmarnock supporters, bye bye Rangers.

"And next season make sure it's bye bye Celtic as well because this is Kilmarnock."

John has since penned an apology on X following his social media activity.

He wrote: "Yesterday evening I made a post regarding the Rangers result. I've realised it was in poor taste and would like apologise for it. I have since removed the post.

"I would also like to apologise to my dad for putting him in an awkward and wholly unnecessary position. He had absolutely nothing to do with the post and it was my error of judgment.

"I made a poor joke without thinking of the consequences. That's on me and no one else."
