Scotland could equal a record stretching back 95 years if they avoid defeat in their next two games after draws with Poland and Austria.
Two years ago, Scotland went on a nine-game unbeaten stretch, which reached its peak with a sensational penalty shootout win in Serbia where Clarke’s men qualified for Euro 2020.
However, their attempts to go ten-games unbeaten were ended in the Nations League after a 1-0 loss to Slovakia.
At the moment, Scotland’s next two games are scheduled for June 4 and 7 against Armenia and Ukraine.
Both are set to take place at Hampden but question marks remain over the World Cup semi-final play-off against war-torn Ukraine in the midst of the Russian invasion.
If they do avoid defeat in the next two games, it will be the first time Scotland have gone ten games without defeat since a three-year spell between 1924 and 1927.
If they manage to win the next game, they will equal the run of two years ago and also a series of results set between 1967 and 1969 where the Scots beat Wales twice, Denmark, Austria, Cyprus and drew with England, West Germany, Netherlands and Northern Ireland.
Scotland’s last run of then games undefeated saw them win nine of them – four times against Northern Ireland, three times against Wales and England twice – they also drew with their auld enemy at Wembley.
Clarke’s men would have to extend the run a fair bit longer to beat the all-time record which dates back to a 22-game unbeaten run between 1879 and 1888.
Scotland's current run was crucial to them reaching the World Cup play-offs and has seen them defeat Moldova twice, Denmark, Israel and Faroe Islands, beat and draw with Austria and draw with Poland.
