Steve Clarke insists Scotland will not be overawed by the occasion when they open Euro 2024 against Germany.
They will also play Switzerland and Hungary as they contest Group A at the tournament.
And while Clarke is looking forward to the occasion, he maintains that his team are not there to simply make up the numbers.
Speaking to BBC Sport, he said: "You know what you are up against and it is good to be in that first game.
"For us, we need to make sure it is not about the occasion and about the match and we look forward to it.
"It did not matter who we got as it was always going to be exciting for us.
"The aim is to be competitive in every match and respect every opponent. I was actually thinking I was quite hungry as the draw happened!"
Scotland will play in Munich, Cologne and Stuttgart, which will require plenty of travelling.
However, Clarke insists this is not a concern. "I have other people who do that for me, " he continued.
"We have a really good idea now of where we will be based and how we will prepare for the tournament.
"The homework starts now."
