The Los Angeles Rams drafted Stetson Bennett in the fourth round with the expectation that he would back up Matthew Stafford at quarterback, but the rookie hasn’t been with the team since being placed on the non-football injury list in September.
The Rams have not disclosed why Bennett is on the NFI list, with Sean McVay only saying it’s unrelated to the shoulder injury he suffered before Week 1.
McVay provided an update on Bennett during his conference call Monday, noting that the rookie is “doing well.” He indicated that it’s unlikely Bennett will return to the Rams this season, though.
Sean McVay said QB Stetson Bennett (Reserve/NFI) is "doing well."
McVay not ready to say Bennett won't be back with the team this season, "but it's probably less likely than it is likely he would be."

Bennett was drafted 128th overall out of Georgia this year. He won two National Championships with the Bulldogs and was named the MVP of each game, putting together a decorated career in Athens.
