Sterling Rangers absence explained as injury confirmed by Clement

Philippe Clement has confirmed Dujon Sterling is absent for Rangers due to injury.

The defender is not part of the matchday squad for Rangers in Perth as they face St Johnstone in the Scottish Premiership.

Sterling, 25, had started against OGC Nice in midweek but has suffered a knock and is kept out of the squad at McDiarmid Park.

However, Clement is confident Sterling will not be a long-term absentee.

"He's injured in a way. It's not a serious injury," Clement told Rangers TV.

"But he has a blocked nerve and because of that he cannot make the acceleration so you cannot play football, of course.

"It's something we will need to solve in the next couple of days with the specialist.

"It will not be a long-term injury, that's why he's not in the selection."
