Sterling K. Brown Shares Favorite Onscreen Death Scene Details

Brown recalls beheading scene as vampire hunter on Supernatural.

Sterling K. Brown, the acclaimed actor known for his diverse onscreen roles, recently shared insights into his favorite onscreen death scene during an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show. Brown humorously acknowledged the common occurrence of Black actors dying on screen and fondly recalled his role as a vampire hunter on the hit sci-fi series Supernatural.

During his four-episode stint on Supernatural in 2006 and 2007, Brown portrayed Gordon Walker, a character who meets his demise by being beheaded after getting bit by a vampire. Brown expressed that this particular death scene was a memorable and enjoyable experience for him.

The conversation on the show also touched upon Drew Barrymore's role as a flesh-eating zombie in the Netflix series Santa Clarita Diet. Barrymore shared anecdotes from her time on set, including the challenge of managing the amount of blood used in her scenes.

Reflecting on her role in Santa Clarita Diet, Barrymore described it as a 'really fun' and 'liberating' experience that coincided with a period of personal growth in her life. The show, which concluded in 2019 after three seasons, received praise from both Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant, who starred alongside her.

Despite his numerous onscreen deaths, Sterling K. Brown has established himself as a prominent figure in the entertainment industry. His award-winning portrayal of Randall Pearson in This Is Us garnered critical acclaim and multiple accolades, including Emmy, Golden Globe, and Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Brown's talent extends beyond This Is Us, as he has received Emmy nominations for his roles in various other projects such as Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson. Notably, he is currently in the running for his first Academy Award for his performance in American Fiction.
