Stereophonics' Kelly Jones to attend King Charles' coronation

Stereophonics' singer Kelly Jones has been confirmed as attending King Charles' coronation this weekend. The Cwmaman musician has gone on record to say that his group owed a lot to the Prince's Trust, the youth charity set up by King Charles in 1976 which aims to get young people aged 11 to 30 into jobs, education and training.

Kelly, 48, who formed the 'Phonics along with bassist Richard Jones and late drummer Stuart Cable, credited the organisation with 'helping them get heard' in their early days. Indeed, grant money from the trust allowed the fledgling trio to buy the sound equipment they needed to perform live.

The group would later go on to become the first act signed by V2, the label set up by Virgin Records' founder Richard Branson. A year later, in 1997, they released their debut LP Word Gets Around and have subsequently scored eight number one albums.

Kelly is currently getting ready to tour with his new band Far From Saints, a side-project which sees him collaborate with Texan outfit The Wind and The Wave. Several UK dates have been scheduled starting from the end of May, including a gig supporting Kings of Leon at Wrexham FC's Racecourse ground. An album will then follow in the summer.
