Stephen Robinson set for St Mirren contract talks as board aim for long term Premiership top six foundation

St Mirren chiefs are set to open talks with manager Stephen Robinson over a new deal.

The Buddies are in the process of getting a number of their key players tied up on extended contracts. The Paisley board know their boss has been the catalyst to their recent revival and want Robinson to follow suit. The Northern Irishman is out of contract in the summer of 2024 but St Mirren are looking to lay down long-term foundations. They are looking for Robinson to lead St Mirren to their first top-six finish in the top-flight in years, like he did at former club Motherwell.

Robinson was headhunted from English side Morecambe last February after Jim Goodwin quit for Aberdeen. The 48-year-old has had St Mirren in the top six for most of the season and is looking to get back there after Livingston jumped above them at the weekend with victory over Ross County.

St Mirren have just handed extensions to Trevor Carson and captain Mark O’Hara. They are also trying to push through a similar deal with Australian international Ryan Strain.
