Stephen Robinson says 'impossible' conditions hampered St Mirren in Hibs defeat

Stephen Robinson says it was "impossible" for either side to pass the ball after Hibs narrowly beat St Mirren in treacherous conditions.

The swirling winds at the SMiSA Stadium on Saturday afternoon made it hugely difficult for both teams to play their natural game, with Elie Youan's late moment of quality the only way the sides could be seperated.

Robinson felt that both managers would have settled for a point given the weather, but admits his side could have done better to defend the goal that earned Hibs victory in the end.

Robinson said: "There was not a lot in the game and they would have probably settled for a point like ourselves. It was one of those games when conditions dictated and made it impossible to pass the ball. I don't think either team caused many problems, but they had the one moment of quality.

“I don't think there will be any inquisition. There was a lot of good stuff but we didn't really get ownership of the game and huffed and puffed a little. We could have done better at the goal, but it was a great finish from the boy.

“We had a couple of half opportunities but we didn't take them. It is hard to be overly critical of the boys. The pitch was bobbly and with the wind and rain swirling about it was very difficult.

“When the ball is bouncing off good players you know it is having an effect.”
