UEFA are meeting today to decide on the fate of the Nations League kick-off but Stephen Kenny is confident Ireland will play four internationals in June.
The Republic are due to face Ukraine in their Nations League opener on June 4 but the postponed World Cup play-off semi-final between Ukraine and Scotland is likely to be pencilled in for May 31 or June 1 and a revised Nations League fixture list may follow.
“I’m told there's a meeting in UEFA and we should get greater clarification then," said Kenny.
"In my head, I’m planning for four games, there's every reason we should be it will be four games in either nine or 10 days."
Asked if he had other fixtures lined up if the fixtures change, Kenny replied: “We’ll wait and see what happens first with that. I’m sure that discussion will be had."
Kenny has revealed that first-choice midfielder Josh Cullen is suspended for the opening fixture after he was booked in the World Cup qualifier in Luxembourg last November.
"There was an amnesty for the play-offs, so we thought if that was the case then it would kick (Cullen's) suspension for the new competition," said Kenny.
"But it's carried over and he's banned for the first game, which is harsh. The rules are the rules and we must accept it."
Kenny is awaiting confirmation from Tottenham today that Matt Doherty will be out for 10-12 weeks with a knee ligament injury and the wing-back is expected to miss the June window.
But the Ireland boss is holding out hope that Wigan winger James McClean will recover quickly from his knee injury in time to be involved.
Norwich striker Adam Idah and defender Andrew Omobamidele are injured and are unavailable. Ireland will have a home-based camp in the run-up to the June games.
Meanwhile, Blackpool winger CJ Hamilton could be involved in June after declaring for the Republic and his paperwork has already gone through.
