Stephen Glass slams Celtic winner as Aberdeen boss claims he was treated differently from Ange Postecoglou

Stephen Glass insists Celtic’s controversial winner should have been disallowed as Aberdeen slumped to defeat yet again.

Jota bagged a double at Pittodrie in a five-goal thriller as a stirring Dons comeback was ended by the Portuguese star’s second goal.

But the home side were left raging after Liel Abada looked to be in an offside position in the build up to the winner AND he blocked Dons defender David Bates.

On-loan Benfica man Jota scored the opener before Matt O’Riley added a second to put the Hoops in cruise control at the break.

But Christian Ramirez and Lewis Ferguson both scored to give the Reds a chance of taking something but Jota ended their hopes.

And Glass said: “From the side, I thought Abada blocked Batesy and stopped him going back and defending against Jota.

“I thought he was offside as he did it but even if not he was still blocking a player.

"We continually get done for blocks every week, sometimes even when they don’t happen so it’s disappointing.

“I come in and say it every week but don’t want to talk about referees. There are reasons you ask me these questions.

“I was warned or told before the end of the game not to go on the pitch and speak to the referee.

“He didn’t tell two managers he told one. Maybe he has realised he has made a mistake.

“The fourth official was told to tell us not to speak on the pitch after the game. Both managers didn’t get treated the same. Maybe there is a reason for that.”

The Dons slipped to ninth in the table and have suffered 12 defeats in 25 league games.

Glass said: “I’m disappointed not to come away with anything at the end. We didn’t get close enough to a good team in the first half.

“We put that right in the second half and the energy was a lot better and the intensity was good, pressing a lot better.

“There’s a disappointment overall that we didn’t come away with at least a point.

“When they get their tails up and start rolling it around they make it difficult. The goals we lost - the first one is a a goal they score quite a bit.

“We can show the players but they need to see it. The second one is a deflection but the second half was a helluva lot better and that’s what we need to focus on going into the weekend.

“We had quite a bit to say at half time. We knew as a group we had to get closer to them, stop them playing quite as much and have a bit more bravery to actually play.

“We had opportunities to pass it in the first half and a lot of the simple things weren’t getting done well enough but they showed a response which is all you can ask for."
