STEPHEN Flynn has taken aim at Peter Shilton following the former England goalkeeper's meeting with Nigel Farage.
In a post on Twitter/X, the ex-Nottingham Forest and Leicester City goalkeeper said he had met with the Reform UK leader.
He said: “Great to see @Nigel_Farage today at a small fundraising event raising money for local charities @Essexlife @talboothhands.”
Shilton, a self-proclaimed Brexit supporter, did not escape a wee dig from SNP Westminster leader Flynn.
He said: “Seen Nigel. But missed Maradona.”
Flynn’s response is of course a reference to the famous “hand of God” goal scored by Argentina’s Diego Maradona against England at the 1986 World Cup.
Shilton was in goal as the Argentina legend knocked the ball past him with his hand.
Plenty seemed to enjoy Flynn’s week joke as they reacted with laughing emojis in the comments.
“Ouch,” one Twitter/X simply said.
During the match, the goal gave Argentina a 1-0 lead and they eventually went on to win 2-1, with Maradona also scoring the second goal.
