Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James broke the all-time scoring record including the postseason Saturday against the Golden State Warriors, passing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the No. 1 spot.
Unfortunately for James and the Lakers, L.A. lost by two points after crumbling in clutch time. James shot 9-of-27 from the floor for 26 points, stretching the Lakers’ losing streak to three games.
After the game, Warriors star guard Stephen Curry, who became the all-time leader in 3-pointers made during the regular season, praised James’ longevity, via Jovan Buha of The Athletic:
“It’s wild to think about how many games he’s played, how long he’s been doing it,” Curry said. “The longevity of it all is legendary. To be in that position where you’ve played that many games, you’ve been in so many different playoff runs, won championships and done it year after year, there is no real end in sight. That’s a pretty special accomplishment. He’s probably got his eyes set on the ‘real’ scoring title. It’s crazy to think about.”
Curry is pointing to the regular season scoring record. James is third on that list, trailing Karl Malone and Abdul-Jabbar. If he can continue playing at a high level, he could make history again.
