Stephen Baxter picks his standout star as Crusaders march on in Irish Cup

Stephen Baxter was beaming as Crusaders marched on in the Irish Cup.

The Crues boss was delighted with his side's performance as Jordan Forsythe's first half strike sealed a semi-final berth at Glentoran's expense.

There was one player in particular though who was singled out for praise by Baxter.

"Rory McKeown was Man of the Match for me, he never gave McMenamin a kick of the ball. McMenamin wasn't in the game," he said.

"When you take out their best player, who is an international footballer, who everyone has been talking about because he's been sensational this year and he doesn't get a kick you have to be very pleased with that.

"We nullified them, they had no real chances in the game apart from our slip up in the first half I didn't see anything else from Glentoran.

"We did what we had to do, we were bold and strong and dealt with everything we had to and won the game pretty much at a canter."

Crusaders' tactics worked to a tee but Baxter admitted he had a few sleepless nights in the build up as he toiled with a change of system.

"We made two adjustments to the set-up today to try and nullify them and how they might come at us," he said.

"I thought about it all week and it gave me sleepless nights, I even doubted myself when I woke up on Saturday morning, but it proved to be the right decision and we got ourselves over the line and into another semi-final.

"In the cup it's a winner takes all system, you've no comeback, you're either in it or you're out..

"We've moved another step but all these games are tough, you have to work exceptionally hard to get where you need to be.

"Today was our game again and I thought we were really good."
