Steph McGovern throws 40th birthday party in Gateshead with late night conga and Kerry Katona duet

Steph McGovern threw a fabulous and fun-filled party for her 40th birthday as she took over a Gateshead hotel to celebrate the landmark coming of age.

North East host Steph, a daily fixture on TV thanks to to her Channel 4 lunchtime programme Steph's Packed Lunch, hot footed it from being within inches of ABBA at the premiere of their Voyage show in London to welcome friends and family to the Hilton, which was filled with balloons and plenty of booze for the occasion.

There were also plenty of celebs in the vicinity as well with Steph's Packed Lunch co-star and Strictly finalist John Whaite, another ex Strictly star Denise Van Outen, singer Joe McElderry, a recent guest on Packed Lunch and Kerry Katona all in attendance. And, as well as posing up a storm, Kerry was also right at the centre of the action as she joined Steph for a duet of Atomic Kitten classic Whole Again on stage.

Other celebs at the Hilton on Saturday night included comedian and Packed Lunch regular Russell Kane and TV presenter Helen Skelton.. Steph shared a series of videos and pictures from the night on her Instagram. One of the pictures saw the former BBC host looking stunning in a short blue dress as she struck a pose in front of a balloon display, while clips saw all her guests doing the conga around the room after the lighyts had come on at the end of the night.

Steph also admitted that the party didn't end there with some of her guests, including some of the Packed Lunch crew, then hotfooting it to Newcastle city centre club Powerhouse to continue the celebrations, with a time stamp showing a very late 4am. Steph's party came two days after she hit the red carpet for the star studded Voyage launch at the purpose built ABBA Arena in north London.

She joined the likes of Kylie Minogue, Kate Moss, Zara Larsson and Sophie Ellis-Bextor for the premiere, with her and many others totally blown away by the fact that, as well as being on screen in avatar form, ABBA stars Bjorn, Benny, Agnetha and Frida were all there in the flesh, taking their seats in the crowd to watch the show, before walking onto the stage at the end of the night.
