Steph Curry has spoken about the moment that his brother joked about his Golden State Warriors team had been 'cheating' after the acquisition of perennial all-star Kevin Durant.
In the 2016 playoffs, Durant's Oklahoma City Thunder team were defeated by the Warriors, who would go on to suffer NBA finals heartbreak, losing to LeBron James' Cleveland Cavaliers. That off-season, the Warriors shocked the world when they were able to acquire Durant as a free agent. Durant was believed to be either joining the Boston Celtics or San Antonio Spurs should he leave OKC, but decided to join forces with Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green to create a true super-team.
It was a move criticised by many, with analysts claiming the move killed any competition in the NBA, with arguably the league's best team acquiring one of the league's best players.
That would turn out to be the case, with the Warriors winning the next two NBA championships, with wins over the James' Cavaliers on both occasions - Durant winning finals MVP both times, too.
Prior to their first season together, Durant attended a Drake concert at Oracle Arena alongside teammates Curry, Green and Thompson.
During the performance, Drake had noticed the players in the VIP section and shouted out their names - forgetting one of them, which lead to Seth joking that the Warriors were 'cheating'.
On JJ Redick's podcast, Curry recalled: "Drake was talking at one point and was like 'Yo we at Oracle Arena, ya'll got Steph, Draymond, KD now? Oh and uh... number 11?'" - as Drake forgets all-star Klay Thompson name, with the Warriors players laughing.
After the incident, Seth told Steph: "That's how I know ya'll are cheating. The fact that Drake didn't know Klay's name... ya'll have so many names!".
Durant spent three seasons with the Warriors, winning the first two NBA championships and going to a finals in his last year in 2019. However, an achilles tear would be the catalyst for the Toronto Raptors to turn the series around, as Kawhi Leonard announced himself as one of the best players in the league - outperforming Curry, Thompson and Durant and almost single-handedly willing the Canadian outfit to their first ever NBA title.
Durant then left the Warriors, to join Kyrie Irving at the Brooklyn Nets - a move which hasn't planned out the way either will have liked after failing to make significant playoff runs.
Curry, meanwhile, won his fourth NBA title this past season, alongside Thompson and Green as they defeated the Boston Celtics in six games.
