Steph Curry was brutally honest about Warriors’ trade possibilities after he scored 60 points in a loss

To say the Golden State Warriors have struggled this season would be an understatement. At the time of this writing, Golden State is just 21-25, sitting in a precarious 12th place in the Western Conference standings. The Warriors are at the point where even sublime 60-point efforts from Steph Curry aren’t enough for a win, just like in Saturday night’s overtime defeat to the Atlanta Hawks.

Such struggles have led to speculation about the end-stage Warriors making big moves at the trade deadline — either trading away players for future assets to blow it all up or acquiring a difference-maker or two.

This trade conversation is not something Curry subscribes to.

After the Warriors’ loss on Saturday night, Curry was asked about his feelings on the upcoming trade deadline. He ultimately took the high road, putting the onus on himself and his teammates to “go out and perform and hold our ground” before advocating for any dramatic roster changes in public.

It’s impossible to know Curry’s true thoughts, but this answer makes it apparent he’d never throw anyone under the bus in front of a microphone. Remember, Curry said all this after scoring 60 points … in a loss. After such a remarkable performance, he would’ve been well within reason to disparage his team and his front office as everyone fights to keep their head above water. But he didn’t.

Maybe there are some shake-ups on the way for the Warriors this week. You just won’t catch Curry pushing for them. The future Hall of Famer seems too busy actually leading his team.
