Steph Curry urges Warriors to have more urgency

The Golden State Warriors have struggled for consistency all season. They’ve also failed to make the most of their home games. A lack of size and an aging core have played parts in the franchise’s struggles over the past few months. However, the Warriors still can make the playoffs, albeit via the play-in tournament.

When speaking to the media following the Warriors’ 123-111 loss to the Indiana Pacers on Friday, Steph Curry discussed how his team needs greater urgency. He understands the task he and his teammates face.

“Every game is a little something different, so it’s not an easy position to be in,” Curry said. “Especially when every game matters and every game counts. There needs to be a sense of urgency in how we finish this last stretch of games.”

There is value in finishing the season strongly. It could help Steve Kerr‘s team build much-needed momentum heading into the play-in tournament. If the season was to end today, the Warriors would need to beat the Los Angeles Lakers and then beat the loser of the Phoenix Suns and Sacramento Kings to qualify for the playoffs. That’s a tall order, regardless of who is on your roster.

The sixth seed is likely out of reach for Golden State at this point. As such, the best they can do now, is try to develop some momentum and get ready for a grueling two games that will define how we view their season.
