Steph Curry urges selflessness ahead of new season

The Golden State Warriors have been active during the offseason. Mike Dunleavy has acquired multiple new players to bolster the team’s rotation and give Golden State an opportunity to challenge for another championship. The issue with adding so much talent is finding a way to get everybody on the same page.

When a team is as stacked as Golden State, there has to be an element of sacrifice. Otherwise, things can fall apart very quickly. During a recent appearance on ‘Real Ones,Steph Curry discussed the Warriors’ need to be selfless and sacrifice throughout the upcoming season. The All-Star guard also noted how there are now seven starting-caliber players on the roster.

“You have to bring your egos, bring your full identity of who you are at the table. But you also have to know when to sacrifice for the betterment of the group,” Curry said. “We know that there’s, you could argue, 7 guys that they should start. 7 guys that can argue they should finish games. Do the math. There’s gonna be two people, outside of the equation.”

Golden State’s biggest challenge will be figuring out the best way to utilize Chris Paul. The veteran guard is entering his age-38 season but remains among the best ball-handlers in the NBA. Nevertheless, Paul may be tasked with coming off the bench for the first time in his career.

If Steve Kerr can get his new recruits and his existing core all on the same page, Golden State could be heading for another historic season, but only if everybody on the roster commits to making decisions for the good of the team.
