Steph Curry told Klay Thompson they’re ‘Splash Bros 4 life’ in a classy Instagram message

All good things must come to an end — even the things that never felt like they would.

Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green have been the faces of the Golden State Warriors for over a decade now. It never felt like there’d be a moment when we saw these three on a basketball court and they weren’t playing together.

That moment has finally come. After a tumultuous season with the Warriors last year, Thompson is headed to the Dallas Mavericks.

From a basketball standpoint, this makes perfect sense. Thompson wasn’t getting the money he wanted from the Warriors. Everyone knew he was leaving — the only thing to figure out was where to.

But from an emotional standpoint? Man. It’s one of those “never thought I’d see the day” moments for everyone.

That includes Steph Curry, who used his Instagram story to share a handful of photos of moments with Thompson in their heyday and send him a classy goodbye message.

“Even though we wont’ finish the journey together, what we did will never be done again,” Curry said. Couldn’t have imagined a better run with you and @Money23Green. Changed the way the game is played. Killa Klay at the center of it all. Thank you for everything bro. Go enjoy playing basketball and doing what you do.

Splash Bros 4 life my guy.”

We’re witnessing the end of an era, folks. This is the end for the Splash Bros on the court.

It’s the natural lifecycle of things in the NBA. A star flourishes with one team for years, grows old and then falls out with the team you never thought they’d leave. It’s a tale as old as the league itself. Thompson isn’t the first one this has happened to and he certainly won’t be the last.

Just remember the good times, Warriors fans. You’ll always have those.
